Puppy's first easter

We took Koda down to his Jeff's parents house for Easter. On the drive down he smelled the nursery store and their lovely fertilizer. He was sticking his head out the window and started to howl at it, it was hilarious! When we got there he started to sniff out the place and was on a serious mission to smell out every possible smell. We took him out side to play on the grass and all he wanted to do was pull up the grass. He probably ate a good pound of grass! He is paying the price for it today... he has kind of an upset stomach. But towards the end of the night the kitty started to get a little brave and Koda wanted to play with her. It was too funny to see how much cats and dogs don't mix!

Our little boy is growing up so fast! I was looking at his mouth last night and I noticed a few teeth are coming in, 1 is missing and another is about ready to fall out!!!! I want to just pull it out! Maybe Koda will be nice and give it to me when it does fall out ;-) haha

4 teeth!!!

Koda is becoming such a big boy! he has lost his 4 front teeth, the two uppers and two downers. The new ones are starting to come in and they look so cute! I'm still hoping that I can find at least one of his teeth when they fall out. Some more exciting news, we were doing some training with him today and when Jeff said "Down" he went down all on his own with no cues. It wasn't just one time, he did it a few times in a row. YEAH!!!! Our little boy is growing up!

Dog park video's

Dog Park

Koda had his first trip to the dog park this weekend! We were so nervous to bring him there because of all the horror stories about people not watching their dogs and their dogs attacking other ones. There is one a few miles from our house and it was in a nice part of town so we figured maybe people would be more apt to watch their pooches. The moment we got there Koda was so excited to see all the other dogs. He wanted to be let off his leash. We let him off and he took off running for the other dogs. He was chasing everyone and they in return chased him. However, all the fun was short lived when another dog who didnt know his own size or strength started to pile drive full force into Koda. He started to bark to warn him to stop but he didnt listen then all of a sudden Koda started to cry for help. Jeff picked him up and he wouldn't stop crying. He was so scared that the big dog wouldn't leave him alone. Well being the puppy he is he just wanted to love and snuggle time with mommy and daddy. After a minute or two he had forgotten everything and wanted to go play again. A little bit later another husky came to join the party. He was a 6 year old who wanted to do his own thing, he just ran around the entire place just checking everything out. Koda did find another friend who just loved to play catch. He would run and Koda would try to catch him. It was definitely a fun day and will be back another time. He was so tired on the way home and had to get a lovely bath since he is covered in doggie drool and his white fun is now brown.

play time in the park

We are trying to be good and keep up on Koda's homework. He has to practice "Look when we call your name", touch and sit. Every week we get more exercises and training tips but for now we start with what he already knows. He has these down pat inside our house but the true test is to see if he can do it outside with all the distractions. As you well know Huskies are known for being easily distracted. We took him to the park across the street and practiced away. He actually did very well! He was wanting to look at all the dogs that were walking by but he would eventually do our command. After we were done with his homework we took him to the play ground. One of the vets that comes to once and awhile says that his german shepard loves going down slides. Well we wanted to see if Koda would like that. We took him up the jungle gym and brought him to the slide. He loved watching me go down it, but wasn't so keen on him going down it. I climbed back up and he sat and whined at the top. I put him on my lap and slid down. He wasn't sure what to make of it. We'll have to give it another go another time to see how he reacts to it.
Yes he is under the blanket :)

Yet another trip to the vet

I swear for the amount of times we go to the vet they will need to have a special room devoted to us. Well Koda's stool has been getting worse and today we are back to diarrhea. SERIOUSLY?! We took Koda in and the vet says they didn't see any Giarrdia  in his stool but it doesn't mean it isn't there. Soooo we are back on the original meds we went on the first time. One part of the problem is hopefully going to be under control, but we are now faced with a whole new potential problem. He thinks that he may have some sort of food allergy. Koda was originally on a chicken based puppy food but went off when we had all the first run about with diarrhea. When we put him back on his stool was never quite "normal". Everything he has been eating is chicken; chicken puppy food, chicken based treats, and just plain old chicken and pasta. We can't win for loosing. Koda may in fact have some sort of allergy to chicken. So now we are feeding him cottage cheese and pasta then start him on a completely different type of protein for his dog food. While we were there he gave him a couple of different kinds of proteins to see which on he would eat. We both laughed cause Koda's nick name is "treat whore". He will do anything, and I mean anything for a treat! We the first one he gave him was a sweat potato treat and he spit that thing out so far it almost hit us! THAT'S MY BOY!!!! He is just like me, can't get that stuff far enough away from us! It was the funniest thing ever! Well so far he ate the duck and lamb. We'll just have to see if anyone of those give him any GI reaction. It's only sometime around 2145 and its about time for me to go to bed... I know I know LAME! But we are getting up early to go see the Urban Mushers again and we start our first training class. Level 1 training here we come!

Happy 4 Month Birthday!

Sitting in front of the fan after our run
Our little puppy is becoming a dog! Koda turned 4 months old today and is getting bigger every day! The past 2 months have been the best and the most challenging ones of our lives. Our normal routines have been turned completely upside down and what is this thing called sleep people talk about... haha! Koda sleeps through the night (which is awesome) but he wakes up every morning at 6! However, we wouldn't have it any other way! I can't imagine not having him here. When he is gone at day care or when I'm on my way home, I can't wait to see my boy! I just never thought I would ever know anyone who liked peanut butter more than me... Koda is obsessed with it! Well I can only imagine how much more is going to happen in the up coming months! Happy 4 month birthday to my sweet little boy!

He can actually see out of the window now
Well again sorry for being graphic but I'm talking about everything that has to do with our little boy and well this counts. Koda's stool was starting to get better towards the end of the week and to say the least we jumped for joy, but I think we spoke too soon. I think we are going to have to go back to the vets tomorrow to actually try some more medicine, cause we are getting tired of dealing with diarrhea.

Yesterday we had a picnic with some of our friends since the weather was so stinking warm. Well just our luck the day we try to do a picnic it gets cold again. Koda had a blast! A friend of ours brought her Chiwawa and of course Koda wanted to play; however, this little dog wanted nothing to do with Koda. The park we went to was a frees-bee golf park so of course our little Koda brought along his new frees-bee, but he decided to chew on it instead of chase it. He did however LOVE chasing his tennis ball! When we got home the three of us fell asleep hard, the sad thing was we had a friend over when we did. Sorry Kevin!

This morning we decided to get up early and go check out the Urban Mushers. For those who do not know, Urban Mushers are a group of people who own working dogs and want to give their dog's a work out by mushing on dry land. They do this on scooters, bikes, carts, etc. Here is the website for the group: http://www.urbanmushing.com/main.htm. We drove up to the park where they meet every weekend and there was no one! We started to get nervous that we missed them or they do not meet anymore. We started to go on a walk and we ran into another couple with 2 huskies; one of them was a 4 month old pup. We started to talk to them and they said that they do it with with their old dog and they normally come on Saturday's. Oh well! After our walk with them, we all walked back to the cars and they were going to show us their scooter. When we walked up we saw a few other couples with their huskies; we almost jumped for joy! We were able to see the dogs get ready and take off on their scooters. Koda was so excited to see them and wanted to go right along too. He had so much fun playing with the little pup that let him forget about his want to go pull. In a few more months we will be able to get Koda out there and he will be able to pull just like he was meant to.
